Alcohol a factor in crash that killed 24-year-old man walking in Farmington Hills: police

(WWJ) A Hamtramck man has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Farmington Hills, early Monday morning.

Farmington Hills police say the crash happened at around 12:20 a.m. as the 24-year-old man was walking in the roadway, headed westbound in the eastbound lanes of M-5 Hwy. near Halstead Rd.


Police said an investigation found that the victim was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on M-5. He had a friend with him, but the friend was hot hurt.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Dearborn man, and his three passengers were not injured.

Police said investigators determined that "alcohol and visibility were contributing factors."

No charges have been announced, as the investigation continues.
