BRUCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - One Macomb County man is in police custody after he allegedly discharged a pistol through the wall of his home during a drunken dispute with a woman early Friday morning.

Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched to a home in the 11700 block of Cascade Circle in Bruce Township just after 4 a.m. after receiving reports of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman in the mobile home community.

Police allege the male suspect grabbed a pistol and was holding it behind his back while he and the female victim argued.

Troopers claim both he and the woman were drunk.

During the dispute, the woman attempted to wrestle the firearm from the man, but he was able to maintain possession. As he once again held the pistol behind him, it discharged into the furniture, the floor and through to the outside of the home, police said.

Troopers confirmed three children were in the adjoining room when the shot was fired.

As police arrived, the woman and three children were located down the street while the male suspect appeared to go back into the residence.

Authorities were able to contact the man through the phone, but learned he had fled the area on foot – the suspect was then tracked down and apprehended in the parking lot of a business close to the mobile home park.

As state police processed the scene for evidence, they found the pistol and a fired cartridge casing.

The man was taken into police custody and is currently pending prosecutor review.
