All occupants rescued from water following plane crash in West Michigan

State and federal investigators are enroute to the scene of a plane crash that occurred in West Michigan on Saturday morning.

NEWAYGO COUNTY (WWJ) - State and federal investigators are en route to the scene of a plane crash that occurred in West Michigan on Saturday morning.

According to a Facebook post from Newaygo County Undersheriff Chad Palmiter, the plane went down in Hardy Dam Pond, approximately 50 miles north of Grand Rapids. sometime in the morning hours on July 8th.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office and Big Prairie Fire Department were at the scene shortly after 10 a.m. All the occupants on the downed plane were rescued from the water, Palmiter said.

According to officials, no injuries were reported.

Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration as well as the Michigan Department of Natural Resources were said be en route to assist deputies, Palmiter added.

Additional details about the crash are expected to be released when they become known.
