SUMMERFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A crash involving an all-terrain vehicle and an SUV left one teen dead and another in critical condition in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Saturday, July 25, around 5:03 a.m. in Summerfield Township, on Bacon Road south of Todd.
Their preliminary investigation revealed a woman was pulling out of a driveway to turn north on Bacon when the two teen boys on a black Honda TRX250 four-wheeler struck the front seat passenger door.
The impact ejected the boys from the four-wheeler. They came to rest in the road, south of where the crash occurred.
Authorities identified the teens as Harvey Richards, 14, of Dundee, and Ethan Kitts, 17, of Petersburg.
First responders pronounced Richards dead at the scene, and transported Kitts to Toledo Promedica Hospital, where he's in critical condition.
Neither the woman in the sedan nor her passenger, both in their fifties, were hurt. Authorities say both of them had their seatbelts on, while neither of the boys wore helmets.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash.
