FRASER (WWJ) -- Richards Middle School in Fraser went into lockdown Friday, after a bullet was reportedly found in a bathroom.

Early in the afternoon, school officials said students were slowly being released to their parents, while police continued to investigate on campus, off Garfield Road, just south of 15 Mile.

As K9s swept the school building, students were slowly released to their parents.

By 4 p.m., district officials told WWJ that all of the students were home safe.

As reported by the Macomb Daily, Kristin Sommer, director of community relations for Fraser Public Schools, told parents in an alert that the Fraser Department of Public Safety was investigating the incident with the full cooperation of school officials.

“All students are safe and in their classrooms while the police work through their investigation,” Sommer wrote, stressing that there was no active threat to students.

Fraser High School, located next door to the middle school, wasn't letting students leave the building for a time, although classes continued as normal.

This incident comes a day after Trenton High School students were dismissed later than normal Thursday while police investigated the discovery of a bullet on school grounds.

On Tuesday, Feb, 6, a similar situation was also reported at Dearborn High School with police disclosing that a shell casing was found in the building at around 8:30 a.m.

All three incidents occurred in the same week that Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of the Oxford High School shooter, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with her son's killing of four students in November 2021.
