MARINE CITY (WWJ) -- Police officials in St. Clair County have issued a statement following an investigation at an elementary school after a round of ammunition was found Thursday.

The Marine City Police Department said at approximately 7:23 a.m. they were notified by administration at Holy Cross Elementary School regarding ammunition that was found.

While a custodian was cleaning the locker room at the activities center, school officials said he found one live .22 caliber round on the floor.

School officials then canceled class for both the elementary and Cardinal Mooney High School so an investigation could take place.

Police officials, the bomb squad detection and K-9 units were called in, but they said no threat was discovered and nothing suspicious was located.

Officials believe it is an isolated event.
