ROYAL OAK (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after a deadly stabbing in Royal Oak.
It happened on Friday, October 24, 2025, around 9:30 p.m. Royal Oak Police officers received a report from a man who said he needed help on Sheridan Drive, in a neighborhood around 14 Mile and Woodward.
Investigators say officers quickly arrived to the scene where they found a 35-year-old woman with blood on her hands. Officers had to chase after her to detain her.
When police got inside the home, they found an unresponsive 83-year-old man in the basement with multiple stab wounds.
Royal Oak officers and fire department paramedics attempted to save his life, but he died from his injuries on the scene.
The woman was a guest in the home at the time of the stabbing.
No motive has been released, but the woman is known to the victim and the homeowner. She is being held at the Royal Oak Police Department while detectives continue their investigation.
Findings will be sent to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
