(WWJ) — Thousands of people Downriver are dealing with a power outage Tuesday afternoon that DTE officials say was caused by an animal intrusion.
As of 2:15 p.m. an estimated 8,200 DTE customers were without power in the areas around Southgate and Lincoln Park.
The DTE outage map says an animal or bird damaged DTE equipment, but the utility has not offered any further details.
The outage has caused some businesses in multiple Downriver communities to close.
DTE says it is addressing the situation and hopes to have power restored by around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
