ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- The 62nd annual Ann Arbor Art Fair is officially open!

After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair returns this morning and will take up 30 city blocks in downtown Ann Arbor through Saturday, July 17.

Although the 2021 festival was initially cancelled, city officials reversed the decision after Governor Whitmer announced that COVID restrictions would be lifted in time for the event.

Still, there will be precautions in place as half a million attendees flock to Ann Arbor over the next three days, such as extra space between booths so that visitors can safely distance.

The AAAF features over 600 artists in every medium, including ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, 2D and 3D mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood.

Speaking with WWJ, Frances Todoro, Executive Director of the Ann Arbor State Street Art Fair, says the festival will have something for art lovers of all levels and interests.

“The best thing about this fair is that we have so many artists and they’re all so different and they all have their own personal style, that it can reach anybody at all levels,” Todoro said. “You can find some original pieces that are up over $10,000 and you can also find some pieces that are a few hundred dollars.”

Shuttle buses will be running from Ann Arbor Huron High School and Briarwood Mall with a roundtrip price of $5.
