(WWJ) -- An Ann Arbor woman has died following a flash flood that swept through the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Authorities say that 29-year-old Rebecca Copeland was with a group of rafters when their campsite along the Colorado River was washed away.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening after a torrent of water rushed through a slot canyon.

Copeland’s body was located yesterday in the frigid water. Five other people were injured and evacuated by air from the canyon.

Forecasters had issued a flash flood watch for the area, but it remains unclear if the rafting guides were aware.

The National Park Service is currently investigation the situation.
