TIPTON, Mich. (WWJ) – An arrest has been made for the murder of Dee Warner, a Lenawee County woman who went missing more than two years ago.
Warner, 52, was last seen at her home in Tipton — north of Adrian — in late April of 2021.
After multiple extensive digs in search of her body, Michigan State Police announced Tuesday a suspect has been taken into custody. No information about the suspect was immediately released.
MSP officials said the suspect's name is being withheld, pending arraignment, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday. More information will be released following that hearing.
About six months after her disappearance, the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office, FBI and Michigan State Police conducted a series of searches using digging equipment and ground-penetrating radar on hundreds of acres of farmland.
This past May authorities again began digging in an area along M-50 near Franklin Township and Tipton. While officials confirmed at the time the digging was related to Warner's disappearance, it was not clear what prompted that particular search.
Her body was not found as a result of those searches. It was not immediately clear Tuesday whether authorities believe they know where her body is.
Warner, a mother of five, ran her own trucking company from the barns on her property.
While Warner's husband told authorities she left to start a new life, according to previous reports, in the months after her disappearance authorities said her cell phone had gone dead and her credit cards had not been used.
