PONTIAC (WWJ) -- The North American International Auto Show will return to Detroit in 2022, but in the meantime, a different event has pulled into its spot.
WWJ’s Jeff Gilbert reports that the Motor Bella will take place in September at the M1 Concourse track in Pontiac, and be shorter and more consumer-related.
Rod Alberts, executive director of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, says the outdoor event will still be an opportunity for auto makers to put their products in front of the media.
“We do have some debuts,” Alberts said. “I can’t tell you what they are obviously, yet. My hope is that we have more.”
Alberts tells the Automotive Press Association that the Auto Show will return downtown next year because “That’s the place it belongs,” but adds that Motor Bella could become a recurring event as well if it’s a success.
Motor Bella, which will feature track driving, an off-roading area, and displays by automakers with over 600 cars, trucks and utility vehicles, is set for September 21-26.
