(WWJ) The Michigan State Police First District is celebrating a birth — but it may not be what you think.
On Thursday, MSP posted photos of a pair of baby mourning doves that hatched in a nest nestled between the windshield and the hood of a patrol car.
Back on Aug. 4, MSP said a mother bird had built the nest on the car over the weekend, as it was parked at the Lansing Post. Luckily, the car was not in use that day, and MSP left the nest alone, allowing it to remain on the car undisturbed.

"Never let it be said the MSP doesn’t care about nature," the district wrote on X.
In an update Aug. 21, MSP said: "We are proud to announce our Mourning Dove babies have arrived. The proud parents are taking turns keeping the babies warm and safe."
There was no immediate word on names for the MSP's fluffy new friends.
