DETROIT (WWJ) -- -Which vehicles are the best products to come out in 2027? Which of those will win the top awards?
Family haulers, big pickups and small cars populate the list of “Best of 2027. The vehicles that will compete for North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year (NACTOY).”
The final list includes 25 vehicles, five cars, four trucks and 16 utilities. Once again EV’s are well represented on the list, and startups are mixed in with established carmakers.
“This is a diverse field of vehicles that reflects the changing nature of the auto industry,” said WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert, who is in his second term as NACTOY president. “Now the competition becomes even more focused as we work toward selecting this year’s finalists and winners.”
The NACTOY jury is composed of fifty automotive journalists. They will have a program near Ann Arbor next month where they will have the opportunity to drive these vehicles back to back.
The field will be narrowed to three finalists in each category that will be announced November 19th at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Jurors will re-evaluate those vehicles and vote again.
The winners of the North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year will be announced January 13, 2027 to open the Detroit Auto Show.
