ROMULUS (WWJ) Romulus Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who left a bicyclist in critical condition, police said.
Romulus Police said the crash happened on Friday, May 8, around 6:37 p.m. in the area of Wickham and Smith roads. That's less than two miles from Detroit Metro Airport.
Romulus Police and Fire responded to the scene. Authorities said their preliminary investigation revealed a 55-year-old Romulus man was riding a bicycle on Wickham Road when a dark gray 2025 Ford Escape struck him. The driver did not stop after the crash and continued driving southbound.
According to police, the victim "sustained severe injuries." First responders rushed him to a local hospital. At last check, he remains in critical condition.
