DETROIT (WWJ) -- President Joe Biden is set to pay a visit to the city of Detroit next week.
The White House says Biden will visit General Motors’ Factory ZERO electric vehicle plant in Detroit on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
The president is expected to discuss his infrastructure deal, which he is expected to sign on Monday.
The White House says the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act focuses on “accelerating the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and supply chains, reducing emissions to fight the climate crisis, improving air quality, and creating good-paying, union jobs across the country.”
Under the infrastructure package, Michigan would receive about $10 billion in federal funding over five years, including more than $7 billion from federal highway programs.
The state is also set to receive an additional $1 billion to improve public transit and $1.3 billion to improve water infrastructure over five years.
GM says it is excited to welcome Biden as the company opens the doors to its new all-EV assembly plant.
“Factory ZERO is the culmination of GM’s multibillion-dollar U.S. investment in people, product and process,” the company said in a statement Wednesday. “The electric trucks, SUVs and autonomous vehicles built at Factory ZERO will transform GM and the automotive industry.”

The factory is one of four EV factories the company plans to have in North America, as it plans to offer upwards of 30 EVs later this decade, according to a report from the Detroit News.
GM has expressed plans to have a lineup of oly zero-emissions vehicles in the not-so-distant future.
