(LANSING) -- Michigan lawmakers are once again making an attempt to expunge certain drunk driving convictions.

The bill, which was passed by the Michigan House on Wednesday in a 91-18 vote, states that first-time DUI offenders could have their records cleared of those charges after five years.

Last year, Governor Gretchen Whitmer pocket-vetoed similar legislation, so it’s uncertain if she would support this latest version.

The Associated Press reports that under the bill, those convicted of drunk driving would be eligible to apply for expungement after the completion of their sentences and probation.

However, conviction for offenses that resulted in serious injury or death of another person would not be considered.

Senate Bill 400, which is sponsored by Sen. Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan), is part of a five-bill House and Senate package.
