
(WWJ) A Birmingham man is facing a felony charge after it's alleged he tried to break into a home in Bloomfield Township over the weekend.
According the Bloomfield Township Police Department, the homeowner called 911 at 1:40 a.m. Saturday to report a man was kicking and stabbing his front door, trying to get inside.
When officers arrived, the found 37-year-old Peter Chan-Woong Chung on the front porch of the home, in the area of Quarton Rd. and Lasher Rd., and took him into custody.
Police said the officers found a knife on a window ledge by the front door. The door jam was splintered and the door sustained what's estimated to be more than $1,000 in damage.
Authorities have not said why Chung was trying to break in, or whether the suspect and the victim knew one another.
Chung was arraigned Sunday on one count of Attempted Home Invasion First Degree, and was ordered held on a $25,0000 cash/surety bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 3.
