TROY (WWJ) -- An Oakland County man is facing a "Super Drunk" charge after police say he drove his luxury vehicle into a construction zone, and got stuck.
The incident happened last Wednesday, according to Troy Police, in the area of Long Lake Road and Rochester Road in Troy.
Troy Police said they got a call just before 5 p.m. about a white BMW that drove into an active construction zone and was now stuck on an unfinished stretch of road.
Responding officers arrived to find a BMW 330XE stuck on a what was described as a large roll of construction material.
While speaking with the driver, identified as a 59-year-old man from Bloomfield Hills, police said they noticed that he had "bloodshot and glassy eyes," and that his breath smelled like booze.
The driver was asked to perform several sobriety evaluations, but officers said he performed poorly.
The man then tested at .182% BAC (blood alcohol concentration) on a breathalyzer, police said, and was arrested.
After a Chemical Breath Test at the lock-up showed results of .19%. and .19% BAC, the man was issued a citation for Operating with a Blood Alcohol Content of .17% or More.
Under Michigan's "Super Drunk Laws," drivers with a BAC more than twice the state's legal limit of .08% face stiffer penalties, including up to 180 days in jail if convicted.
The driver's name was not released.
