Body discovered in trunk of burning car on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A burning car on Detroit’s west side held a shocking discovery.

In the early hours of Wednesday, a body was found in the trunk of a Chevrolet Impala that had been set aflame near I-96 and Outer Drive, according to Detroit police.

Authorities first responded to a call just before 12:30 a.m. about a reported house fire on Chapel Street. Upon their arrival, fire officials instead discovered the burning car and a body in the trunk.

Detroit police were then notified, and medics were also dispatched to the scene.

The body has not been identified and was burned beyond recognition, according to authorities.
