(WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating after body was found on the Lodge Freeway, Tuesday morning.
As of 9 a.m., the northbound Lodge remained closed at 7 Mile Rd., with troopers on the scene.
Police said that, at around 6 a.m., paramedics in a private ambulance found the body on the shoulder of the northbound lanes.
MSP troopers responded and shut the freeway down. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office was also called to the scene.
In an update later in the morning, MSP said troopers were able to locate video in the area where the body was located and confirmed that this was a suicide.
At this point, MSP had not offered any details about the person, but said they were working to identify the person and notify family.
As the on-scene investigation continued later in the morning, drivers were being forced off the freeway at 7 Mile.
WWJ's Traffic Reporter Michelle Pena said there were lengthy backups from Wyoming Ave., and urged drivers to avoid the area, exiting the freeway before that point.
