Police working to identify middle-aged 'Jane Doe' after body discovered in Monroe County woods

MONRE COUNTY (WWJ) - Police are continuing to investigate after the body of a deceased woman was found in a wooded area in Monroe County on Wednesday.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said in an update to social media that the remains were discovered near a quarry close to 15455 South Dixie Highway, south of Edgewood Boulevard, on March 13.


The Monroe Township Fire Department, the Monroe Community Ambulance assisted Deputy Doug Moore at the scene where they found the body of a middle-aged Caucasian woman.

Authorities said no outward signs of trauma were visible on the body. The woman's identity remains unknown at this time, but investigators are following up on evidence collected at the scene.

There is no reason to believe she is listed as a missing person, deputies added.

No other information was released.
