(WWJ) A teenager, who had been reported missing earlier this week, has been found dead inside a cemetery on Detroit's west side.

Police say the body of Lawrence Dowl, 15, was found Thursday at Mt. Hazel Cemetery on Lahser and Clarita Street after someone visiting a loved one alerted police.

"The run was called in by a citizen who was in the cemetary visitiing a loved one, the individual who contacted the Detroit Police Department indicated there was someone deceased inside the cemetary," Police Homicide Division Captain Marcus Thirlkill said Thursday night.

"The individual who we located inside the cemetary was wearing gloves, and what we believe to be some type of ski mask," Thirlkill said, adding it's early in the investigation, but police are treating the case as a homicide.

According to a missing persons alert from Detroit Police earlier this week, Dowl was last seen on August 12th.  Investigators say he went out with a friend and didn't come home.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
