(WWJ) The body of a Madison Heights woman, who had been missing for more than a week, has been recovered from an SUV that was pulled from the North Channel of the St. Clair River Monday night.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department received information last week about Juanita Clowney, 76, who was seen in the Clay Township area on November 2, 2025, driving a 2021 blue Chevy Trailblazer.

After an initial search didn't turn up anything, the Sheriff's Department received further information Monday that indicated that she may have gone into the water near the Algonac Boat Launch. There were no details provided about the new information.

The St. Clair County Marine Division deployed a boat and using sonar was able to confirm a vehicle was in fact submerged in close proximity from where the last cell phone data was received, the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

The St. Clair County Dive Team, along with multiple departments from the Southeast Michigan Dive Group, responded. Together, the divers were able to locate the vehicle, bring it to the surface, and safely remove it from the water.

“Excellent work by the St. Clair County Marine Division, Dive Team, and Detectives for their persistence in locating the missing female," Sheriff Mat King said in a statement. "I greatly appreciate the assistance from other departments in these situations. The ability to share knowledge, personnel, and resources ensures the best service is provided to the community, regardless of location."

No information was released about how the SUV ended up in the river.

Clowney was reported missing November 2nd, after dropping her daughter off at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
