SAGINAW COUNTY (WWJ) - The body of a missing 30-year-old man who disappeared nearly a week ago was found in the Saginaw River on Friday evening, authorities said.

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office confirmed the body as that of Robert Lee Rodgers Jr., 30, who went missing six days before in Bridgeport Township on May 6.

Deputies recovered the remains from the water just before 7 p.m. on May 12th after someone reported seeing a body floating in the river near Mapleridge Road and Kent Street in Carrollton Township.

Rodgers was last seen around 2 a.m. nearly a week ago in the area of South Hamilton and the Rust Avenue Bridge in Saginaw.

Search efforts included a sweep of the Saginaw River after Saginaw Police Chief Robert Ruth said a shoe matching the description of the ones Rodgers owned was discovered close to the riverside trail near the YMCA of Saginaw.

Rodgers was last seen wearing a white t-shirt on top of a black hoodie that had an image of a teddy bear on it. He was also wearing black pants.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the 30-year-old's death were not released. It is unknown if foul play is suspected.
