Lockdown lifted at Brandon High School after police received reports of shots fired near the school

ORTONVILLE (WWJ) — Officials have lifted a brief lockdown at a Northern Oakland County High School police after received reports of shots fired in the area.

Brandon High School in Ortonville — about 25 miles northwest of Pontiac — went into lockdown shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. It was lifted before 2 p.m.

Details surrounding the incident remain scarce, but the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 police were investigating reports of shots being fired near the school.

It was not immediately clear what led to the reported shots or how close to the school the incident happened.

Deputies investigated and determined there was no threat to the school, though it was not clear whether shots had actually been fired.
