ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- A Canton woman is jailed on multiple felony charges after police say she fled from officer in Royal Oak, and crashed her SUV into an Ulta Beauty store.

“We are extremely fortunate this suspect did not seriously injure or kill our officers, herself, her passenger, or anyone else during this reckless incident, said Royal Police Chief Michael Moore, in a news release Monday.

Police first responded to the area at around 12:40 a.m. on a report of a white SUV driving on the train tracks near W. Fourth Street and S. Center Street.

When officers found the vehicle, driving by 26-year-old Canton resident Katrina Patterson, she "refused to cooperate," police said, noting that one of the SUV's tires was going flat, and there was an open container of alcohol in her car.

When police asked for Patterson's driver's license, it's alleged she sped away, turning into an alley, then into the parking lot of Ulta Beauty on Woodward Ave., where she lost control and crashed into the building.

Despite her vehicle being "fully lodged inside the building," police said Patterson then backed up, ramming a patrol car.

She continued her attempts to drive away from officers, police said, driving the SUV even further into the store, causing thousands of dollars in additional damage.

Finding that her SUV was stuck in debris inside the store, police said Patterson eventually gave up and was arrested without further incident.

No officers were injured, and the driver and her male passenger were evaluated for some minor injuries.

Patterson has since been arraigned in 44th District court on count of Fleeing Police, Assault/Resist/Obstruct Police, Felonious Assault, Malicious Destruction of a Building, Malicious Destruction of Personal Property, and Malicious Destruction of Police Property.

Other charges for drunken driving are possible, as officials await the results of A blood draw.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash, no 10%, and Patterson’s next court appearance was scheduled for Nov. 21.
