FERNDALE (WWJ) -- Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a serious accident in Ferndale, where a car went off the road and crashed into an apartment building.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ Newsradio 950's Tim Pamplin said one person was taken to local hospital following the incident early Tuesday afternoon, along 9 Mile Road.

Pamplin said, according to authorities, the red Buick overturned and slid down 9 Mile Rd. on its roof before smashing into the Ferndale One Complex.
"Police telling me just now that he was driving very, very fast down 9 Mile Road eastbound, lost control, flipped his vehicle and plowed right into this apartment building," Pamplin said.
The driver suffered what officials said were believed to be non life-threatening injuries, and no one inside the building was injured.
"The vehicle is now out of the building," Pamplin reported, just after 1 p.m. "Firefighters were able to ensure the building did not come down when they pulled the vehicle out."
Nine Mile Road was shut down in both directions at Central, just west of Livernois, due to the incident.
The public should expect a significant police presence in the area, as the investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department Crash Reconstruction Team is ongoing.
