(WWJ) A Detroit man is accused of stealing catalytic converters from buses that helped senior citizens at assisted living facilities.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said 32-year old Delmar Jijuan‑Raffile Williams was arraigned in 36th District Court on Friday.
Police said Williams took catalytic converters from 14 buses at a senior assisted living facility on McDougall Street in Detroit.
The buses are used to take people living at the facility to doctor's appointments and other places.
Williams has been charged with one count of Larceny - $20,000 or more, and 14 counts of Larceny from a Motor Vehicle.
“The defendant’s alleged theft of 14 catalytic converters is particularly remarkable because of what kind of vehicles they were stolen from – buses that are used to transport senior citizens from their Assisted Living facility to their doctor’s appointments and other necessary places,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
Williams was ordered held on a $250,000 bond, with a bond redetermination scheduled for Aug. 17.
His Probable Cause Conference is set for Aug. 21.
