(WWJ) Two names continue to hold the top spot for most popular boys and girls' baby names in Michigan.
Since 2020, the most popular name for girls is Charlotte. And since 2021, the top name for boys is Noah. Neither of those changed in 2024.
Other top girls names in Michigan include Amelia, Olivia, and Emma; and the next most popular names for Michigan boys are Theodore, Oliver, and Henry.
The top baby names across the country, as of 2024, are Olivia for girls and Liam for boys.
All of this information comes from the U.S. Social Security Administration, which published its annual list of top baby names by state May 15.
The SSA maintains a database providing the top 100 names for a selected state and year of birth, as well as the top 5 names by state, for all states, for a selected year of birth.
It's fun to look back at years past to see how times have changed. For example, the most popular baby names in Michigan in 1980 (unsurprisingly) were Jennifer and Michael. Check it out at this link.
