TAYLOR (WWJ) — Police in Taylor are telling residents to be on the lookout for a man who reportedly approached a young child in a park while wearing only boxers,

Some time last week the man allegedly approached the child near the pavilion at Boardman Park, in the area of Haskell Road and Burr Street, Taylor police officials said in a post on Facebook.

The man — who wasn't wearing a shirt or pants; only white boxers — allegedly asked the child to "expose their private parts and he would expose his private parts in exchange," officials said.

Police officials said the child ran away immediately after the conversation and is safe. Authorities did not disclose the age of the child.

Police described the suspect as a "heavyset" white man, believed to be 50-to-65 years old, approximately 5-foot-8, with short, light colored hair and glasses. He was riding a gray bicycle in the area.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m., but police did not disclose which day it happened.

Officers have been patrolling the park since the incident, but as of Tuesday morning, have not yet identified the man.

Officials say any similar activity should be reported to the Taylor Police Department either online, non-emergency (734) 287-6611 or in an emergency, 911.
