DETROIT (WWJ) A three-vehicle crash on the Davison Freeway in Detroit killed a child and left five others injured.

Michigan State Police (MSP) said it happened Saturday, October 31, at approximately 11:45 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near I-75 in Detroit.

Their preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet Impala rear-ended another vehicle, causing the Impala driver to lose control and strike a third vehicle. All were driving westbound.

Six people were inside the Impala.

According to authorities, the impact forced a person under the age of 18 from the vehicle. Highland Park police officers transported the minor to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The minor’s age and gender were not released.

The other five people were all hospitalized. Their injuries range from minor to critical.

MSP said the driver of the Impala was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
