WAYNE (WWJ) – Several suspects are in custody after a shooting at an athletic center in Wayne Friday night.
Wayne police officers were called to the Hype Athletic Center at Howe and Annapolis around 10:30 p.m. after a juvenile from Inkster was shot.
Police officials say they "have no reason to believe that Hype caused or contributed to this incident in any way," but a possible motive in the shooting remains unclear.
Authorities say the suspects fled the scene on foot and police were able to use a K-9 unit to track them to a home in Wayne, where they were arrested.
Officials didn't say how many suspects were arrested and no ages were released.
The victim, whose age also wasn't released, was taken to Corewell Hospital in Dearborn with non-life-threatening injuries.
