DETROIT (WWJ) A Christmas night crash on I-94 in Detroit has left a Port Huron area woman fighting for her life.
Michigan State Police said the woman, 37, was "traveling at a high rate of speed" when she lost control of her car and ran off the road to the left, striking the wall.
She then re-entered the freeway, crossed all lanes and went up the right embankment, striking a tree; according to State Police.
It happened on Christmas, around 11:50 p.m., near Concord.
"There was significant intrusion in the passenger compartment by the tree," State Police said.
State Police told WWJ the fire department extricated the Fort Gratiot woman from her car. She was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Her family has been notified.
