CLAWSON (WWJ) -- Police in Oakland County's Clawson are searching for a possible DTE Energy impersonator.

According to Clawson Police, a man was knocking on doors in a neighborhood near Hendrickson Boulevard and Rochester Road appearing to impersonate a DTE utility worker.

The person was first reported on Monday. Now police say they're working to identify him, and determine whether or not he is legitimate.

He's described as a Black male wearing a high visibility vest, driving a brown SUV; possibly a Chevy Trailblazer.

As the department is searching for more evidence in the case, they want to hear from anyone with doorbell camera footage in the area where the man was spotted.

Video can be uploaded to: https://clawsonpdmi.evidence.com/.../com.../public/260001226, or scan the QR Code posted to the Clawson PD Facebook page.

If this is a phony DTE worker, it's not known what his motive might be.

In 2024, 72-year-old Hussein Murray of Rochester Hills was murdered by Carlos Hernandez and Joshua Zuazo, who posed as DTE workers. They were sentenced to life in prison.
