
(WWJ) – A Clinton Township man is in critical condition after being struck by lightning Saturday in St. Clair County.
It happened around 2 p.m. when the 58-year-old man and a 62-year-old Warren man were collecting firewood in an open area in Lynn Township, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say deputies, along with EMS and the Brockway Township Fire Department were called to the scene in the 8900 block of Capac Road.
The 58-year-old man was taken to Marlette Regional Hospital before being transferred to Hurley Medical Center in Flint with critical injuries consistent with being struck by lightning.
The other man sustained minor injuries in the incident and was checked out by EMS on scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies who responded to the scene reported that there were localized thunderstorms and periods of intermittent heavy rain in the area at the time of the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
