The Coast Guard Monument, located at 5236 Adams Road, just south of Silverbell Road, had a large glass panel that was shattered entirely, while there was a large hole to a lower portion of the panel.

Authorities say a large stone was found approximately 20 feet down the hill from the memorial.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident, but as of Sunday afternoon, they did not have a description of a suspect in the case.

The alleged destruction happened the same night authorities received a call for damage to a mosque and a nearby Walgreen’s in Rochester Hills. It was not immediately clear whether any of the incidents were related.
