OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- Authorities are investigating a case of malicious destruction of property after a Coast Guard monument was found to be damaged.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the Veteran’s Tribute of Oakland Township early Saturday morning after the damage was discovered.

The Coast Guard Monument, located at 5236 Adams Road, just south of Silverbell Road, had a large glass panel that was shattered entirely, while there was a large hole to a lower portion of the panel.
Authorities say a large stone was found approximately 20 feet down the hill from the memorial.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident, but as of Sunday afternoon, they did not have a description of a suspect in the case.
The alleged destruction happened the same night authorities received a call for damage to a mosque and a nearby Walgreen’s in Rochester Hills. It was not immediately clear whether any of the incidents were related.
