Columbus Police Department wears "modified" UM gear as the losers of the DPD bet
COLUMBUS OH (WWJ) - The Columbus Police Department upheld their end of the bet made with the Detroit Police Department.
On Nov. 24, ahead of the UM vs. OSU game, Detroit Police Chief James White challenged the Columbus Police Department to a friendly wager. If Michigan won, CPD would wear UM gear and post it on social media, and if Ohio State won, DPD would wear OSU gear on video.
The game ended with UM winning 30 to 24 over OSU. White tweeted a video showing the care package being sent to Columbus. White also tweeted a video asking for an update, saying that he knew the package was delivered.
On Dec. 14, the day Michigan fans were waiting for arrived. Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant posted the video of CPD officers wearing Michigan shirts. There were alterations made to the shirts, with the "M" crossed out. Bryant also said they found the clothing in their recycling bin.
In the video, Bryant shouts "O-H!" and the officers respond with "I-O!" to put a "twist" on the challenge.
Next year will offer a chance for a new bet, and it will be exciting to see if there is an escalation in the wager between the departments for the next game.
