DETROIT (WWJ) – A man has been rescued from the Detroit River after falling from the Ambassador Bridge around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Officials with the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed to WWJ the man who fell was a construction worker, but other details remain unclear, including what led up to the fall and how far he fell.

The Coast Guard was not involved in the rescue, officials said. A safety boat with the company the man was working for was able to rescue him shortly after falling.

The man is said to be ok and was alert and talking and he was being taken to a hospital.

The incident did not impact traffic on the bridge, which is an international crossing between the U.S. and Canada.
