FLINT (WWJ) - A 61-year-old convicted felon was taken into police custody on Friday nearly a week after state police said he made threats against a Flint hospital where he had sought recent treatment.
Troopers with the Michigan State Police Flint Post said they were called out to the McLaren Hospital located 401 S. Ballenger Hwy. on April 1 after staff reported a man made a series of threats against the facility.
Through their investigation, troopers with the Secure Cities Partnership squad discovered the threats were allegedly made by a Flint resident who had expressed frustration with the medical care he had received in the weeks leading up to the incident.
"He threatened to 'shoot up the place' and drive his truck through the front doors," state police said of the case. "The threats were made to a McLaren staff member during two separate phone calls on April 1."
Troopers identified the suspect as Edvin Williams, 61, and tracked him down to his Flint home where he was arrested.
During their investigation, troopers discovered Williams is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. A search of his home found he had a pistol along with ammunition, which were seized, MSP added.
Williams was lodged at the Genesee County Jail and was arraigned on six counts, including Terrorism, on April 4.
