(WWJ) Border patrol agents have arrested a convicted sex offender in Oakland County, only months after his deportation back to Honduras and return to the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a release Juan Dias-Pineda, 51, was arrested on Thursday in White Lake Township thanks to a tip from a “concerned citizen.”

Dias-Pineda was charged and convicted in April 2020 for criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13.

After his conviction, a judge sentenced him to 207 days in prison and five years’ probation. An Immigration Judge ordered him formally removed in May 2021, and he was deported to Honduras about a month later.

Federal agents did not say when he illegally returned to the United States. No other details were released about the arrest, including the exact location.

“Our streets are safer with the criminal off the streets and out of our community,” Acting Chief Patrol Agent Robert Simon said in a release.

Dias-Pineda has been processed for a Reinstatement of Prior Order of Removal and is up for prosecution under the U.S. Attorney’s Office for violation of Re-entry Of An Aggravated Felon.
