(WWJ) If you bought wine from Costco recently, you might want to check the bottle.
Costco has announced it is recalling bottles of prosecco sold in a dozen states that could shatter spontaneously — even when they're not being handled or are not in use.
The states included are Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Dakoda, South Dakoda, Nebraska and Missouri.
The affected product — Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene (item # 1879870) — is a sparkling white wine. The bottles included in this recall were were sold between April 25 and August 26, 2025.
Costco says not to open or return these bottles.
If you have one at home, wrap it in paper towels and place it in a bag before throwing it away, to avoid the risk of shattered glass.
Customers can bring their receipt and a letter posted to the Costco website to their local Costco store to get a full refund.
