STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- An elderly man and woman are dead following what police say was a murder-suicide in Sterling Heights.
Sterling Heights Police Lt. Mario Bastianelli said a 911 call came in at around 9:30 a.m. Monday from a man at who said he'd shot his wife.
The man provided his address, in the 1400 block of Bangor St. — in the area of 17 Mile Rd. and Schoenherr Rd. — and then hung up the phone.
Bastianelli said police officers arrived quickly at the home to find a man and a woman, both in their 80s, dead of gunshot wounds.
A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Bastianelli said police are confident that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the community.
No names were released.
