DETROIT (WWJ) — A suspect is in custody following a shooting during an eviction on Detroit's west side Wednesday that led to a lockdown at Cody High School.

It all unfolded around 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 12 when officers from the 6th Precinct were called to a home on Stahelin near Westfield — a few blocks away from the school — to stand by for an eviction being carried out by officers from the 36th District Court.

At some point during the eviction, multiple shots were fired from inside the home, hitting a 36th District Court employee twice, according to Detroit police. No DPD officers were hit or returned fire during the incident, according to police.

The court employee was taken to the hospital and was said to be in stable condition.

During lockdown protocols at the school, no one was allowed in or out of the building. The lockdown has since been lifted and it coincided with the end of the school day, a DPD spokesperson told WWJ Newsradio 950.

Authorities have not said exactly what happened during the eviction in the moments leading up to the shooting.

Officials have not released any information about the suspect.
