JACKSON (WWJ) A driver believed to be under the influence of alcohol caused a crash that injured a Michigan State Police trooper in Jackson, police said.
In a statement on X; State Police First District said the crash happened on Saturday around 1:30 a.m., while the troopers patrolled the area of Michigan Avenue and Van Dorn Street.
Troopers drove down Michigan Avenue and through the intersection of Van Dorn Street. That's when a pickup truck blew through the stop sign and hit the police cruiser’s passenger side, police said.
A Spring Arbor man, 66, drove the pickup truck; according to police.
The trooper in the passenger side of the cruiser was taken to Henry Ford Hospital Jackson for minor injuries. He was released.
The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
Alcohol is believed to a factor in this crash. No information was released about whether the driver was taken into custody or if he will face charges.
