COLUMBIAVILLE (WWJ) A crash in Lapeer County killed a woman and injured her daughter, according to sheriff's officials.
The Lapeer County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred on Saturday, October 3, at approximately 9:11 a.m.
According to authorities, a 65-year-old Columbiaville woman was driving her 2012 Dodge Journey westbound on Hickory Place Drive and stopped at the stop sign at North Lapeer Road. Her 42-year-old daughter, also of Columbiaville, was in the car with her.
Sheriff's officials said potential moisture on the side windows of the SUV may have prevented the driver from noticing that she entered the intersection in the path of a pick up truck. It was traveling north on M-24 and had no traffic signal.
Both vehicles collided.
The SUV driver, identified as Lynn Goss, died at the scene.
First responders rushed Goss' daughter to McLaren Lapeer Hospital. She's listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Deerfield Fire Department performed extrication with hydraulic tools.
The 2008 Dodge 2500 series pickup truck carried a 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both from Fostoria, Ohio, about 45 miles south of Toledo.
No one in the pickup was hurt.
Authorities said neither excessive speed or alcohol contributed to the crash.
