Crash leaves Ypsilanti bicyclist in critical condition

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) A crash in Ann Arbor leaves a bicyclist in critical condition.

Ann Arbor Police said their officers were dispatched to the area of Washtenaw Avenue and Huron Parkway, on Friday (6/21) around 1 p.m., for a crash involving a motorist and a bicyclist.

“Officers arrived on scene…to find Good Samaritans had come to the aid of the bicyclist,” police said in a statement on “X”.

Investigation revealed the bicyclist; 45 of Ypsilanti; was crossing Washtenaw when the driver struck him while she was traveling westbound through the intersection. The driver 23 of Ypsilanti; stopped at the scene, and she is “fully cooperating with the investigation,” police said.

The bicyclist was rushed to the University of Michigan Medical Center Emergency Room where he remains in critical, but stable, condition.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.
