LYON TWP. (WWJ) – Two people are in custody after a one-car crash on I-96 early Sunday morning.

Michigan State Police responded to a reported OWI crash on the freeway near Milford Road in Lyon Township around 3:30 a.m.. When the trooper arrived, she found the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department was already on-scene and had contacted the two men inside.

Authorities say the passenger was refusing commands from the deputy, who eventually tased him, while the trooper had to use a physical takedown to secure him. He was not hurt.

Officials said both men were intoxicated and in possession of pistols with valid CPLs.

Authorities did not say whether the men were drunk or on drugs. Both were taken into custody and the case is pending prosecutor review.

Police officials didn’t release the names or ages of either man.
