(WWJ) More than 100,000 homes and business were left without power after gusty and severe storms moved through Metro Detroit overnight.
Much of the WWJ listening area was hit by hail, strong winds and flooding, and some areas were left to deal with downed trees, damaged power lines and debris all over the roads.
While cleanup was underway Thursday morning, WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Joe Lundberg said it's not over yet.
"Thunderstorms will erupt again this afternoon, and those can be severe — with damaging winds and some flash flooding," Lundberg said. "So, that's on the table for this afternoon and this evening."
Some hard-hit areas from overnight storms include parts of Warren, where multiple trees came down in the area of 10 Mile and Hoover Rd.
WWJ's Luke Sloan reported from the scene where a huge old tree was completely uprooted and fell into a home on Gunston Ave.
"I think the consensus among the group I'm gathered with is that we've never seen something like this before," Sloan said. "...Luckily, everybody inside this home is OK, but pretty stunning to see the damage from last night's storms."
Another hard-hit area was Madison Heights, where transformers were on fire early in the morning, and numerous trees and power lines were damaged.
Twelve Mile Rd. was shut down east of John R. Rd. because of a downed power line.

Some local schools were closed due to power outages.
Plymouth-Canton Community Schools said there was an outage at Bird Elementary, Farrand Elementary and West Middle. The Orchard Ridge campus is closed at Oakland Community College because of an outage. Online and remote activities will continue. Livonia Public Schools has closed three elementary schools, the Livonia Early Childhood Center and Frost Middle due to outages.
