
GREEN OAK TWP. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a deadly crash backed up traffic in Livingston County during the Wednesday morning commute.
The crash happened along southbound US-23, between I-96 and Silver Lake Road in Green Oak Township, at around 7 a.m. on June 4.
Green Oak Township Police confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 that this was a fatal crash involving a road work vehicle.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the crash involved a contractor truck from PK Contracting — an MDOT pavement marking contractor. MDOT said the driver was not working on the project where the crash occurred.
Police have not confirmed the identity of the person who was killed, and it's still unknown whether there were any additional injuries in the crash.
Southbound US-23 was closed for four hours following the crash, creating an extended traffic backup on the area. All lanes reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m.
